Excessive Sweating (Hyperhydrosis)

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhydrosis)

Consider therapeutic Botox/Xeomin, which can help for 4-6 months by deactivating one’s sweat glands, if excessive sweating is making you feel self-conscious and interfering with your life.

Botox temporarily stops the stimulation of the sweat gland by preventing the release of acetylcholine at the nerve terminals. Perspiration may significantly lessen as a result.Your sweating will gradually return to normal as your body processes the Botox, often in about 6 to 12 months.

Migraines

Migraines

The FDA and Health Canada have licenced neuromodulators (Botox/Xeomin) to assist in preventing and reducing the frequency and intensity of persistent migraine headaches that are not satisfactorily controlled by medication. Only patients who encounter 15 or more headache days per month will have their neuromodulators covered by extended medical policies. A separate injection cost is assessed.

TMJ (Syndrome)

TMJ (Syndrome)

TMJ, sometimes referred to as “TMJ,” refers to a collection of problems that affect the muscles and jaw joint that govern movement and produce discomfort and dysfunction. The ailments can be divided into three groups:

  1. Discomfort or pain in the jaw-controlling muscles;
  2. Displacement, dislocation, or other type of damage that results in internal joint derangement;
  3. Degenerative arthritis or joint inflammation

In order to diminish the masseter muscle’s function and reduce the stress and strain it places on the joint (for example, when the jaw is clenched), neuromodulators (Botox/Xeomin) are used to treat TMJ. This lessens the cause of the discomfort.
