A Summer of Perspective…. and Spirit

A Summer of Perspective…. and Spirit

Summer time. The fruition of another year’s effort and hard work. The peak of one’s year’s BEING. In its anticipation, we each individually focus on settling up our loose ends and achieving our goals, whether personal, physical or career/financial, so that we may enjoy the fruits of our labour. Whereas fall and winter find us introspective and directing our energies inwards, summer finds us at each of our most extroverted extremes. And when it all works out, we enjoy that incredible lightness of being that comes with feeling connected with our life, others and the present moment; we are in the flow. We are connected with spirit in our life, and through it, our presence and being have the benefit of perspective. Perspective of who we are, our life and year in passing, in touch with our values, our future goals, and who we aspire to become.

In a similar parallel, while our own mental-emotional-spiritual well-being can be encouraged, supported, and controlled through our use of supplements, herbs, homeopathics and prescribed medications, without a goal or vision, our mental-emotional support can remain without purpose or direction, and our mind-spirit’s well-being and fulfillment can be short lived and treacherous in its stability. We need vision to steer the course.

So, the next time you’re reaching for your 5HTP to support your serotonin and mood, Tyrosine to support your dopamine, or SAMe and B6 to support your neurotransmitter production, remind yourself – kindly, that while supporting your brain’s biochemistry can be so very important in maintaining a good mood, or guarding against an unexpected dark patch, life can remain a cramped, bottomless well of stress, so long as one doesn’t look up at the sun once in awhile and remind oneself of the direction out – and not to mention, of all the good in the world. Before we take another day of ‘making it through’, managing our stress, or mood, we need to start again by gifting ourselves that 15 minutes, hour, day or week, we’ve been putting off, to get re-oriented towards gratitude, fulfillment, joy and love.

With your sights set on your vision, nourishing your brain will have new heights to reach.
